You have some nice melodies and composure in this song. I enjoyed it a lot actually. I can't really comment on much. The one thing that kinda bugged me was your intro built up and I was expecting to hear a more epic or more intense song it was building at :39 it sounds like it should be going into a totally new and upbeat awesome song. Everything before that predicts it. But once it got into that next part of the song. It was pretty good. It sounded a little bland at sometimes because it was only a drum beat going. But it all flowed very nicely! Nice work! Your composure and structure was awesome, I would love to see what you can do with orchestral or something like that.

Also, it'd be awesome if you could check out my original song "Boundless" and give feedback!

Very interesting! I really like the approach to the song and how you started it out and everything. I can see it as a film score to a movie of some sort. And I love the guitar fading in and out at 1:03. Just awesome. The drum has a fun feel that makes me want to dance almost. AND THE FLUTES AT 1:27!! Love any sort of flutes really :3 The song does kind of get awkward when it breaks away from the song to do some sound effects like at 1:25. It turns out to work well as a transition though, sometimes it just sounds a little awkward. Also, the xylophone solo at 1:41 is good, but when it starts to get flat, I don't know, I think I can see what you are going for, but I don't really think it fits too well. The song is really interesting overall, great use of instruments. It sounds like it would go along to a montage of people doing goofy stuff in an elevator and they get themselves back into shape by the time they get to the next floor to stop at to look normal for the people who walk in. I really enjoyed listening to this though, awesome work.

Hello Stunkel,

thanks a lot for this review! Our intension was to make the music speak for itself and I have to agree that because of al the sound effects and crazy solos this song just got less serious, but we've had a great time composing this.

btw, at 1:41 it's not a xylophone but a marimba... :P this friend of mine gets really angry when you say that, lol...

I'll check this song of yours ;)

I love the drum instrument you use. Especially the snare drum! I think the song needs more color to it. It just isn't full enough and there aren't enough melodies in the song. I think the song needs more bass as well. Could use some violins and other stuff as well. I think you could come up with a better transition for the part at 1:46. It kinda just seems off and needs to just flow right into more smoothly. But the song is pretty good. Needs some work though. Keep it up!

I agree, it needs some work. I'm actually pretty lazy when it comes to this kind of stuff; usually I just write loops as a result. That particular transition was tough, and eventually I just let it be (like I said, lazy). Drums are what I enjoy writing the most, and for this song I actually combined a generic Fruity Loops electronic set with the drum program that I use and got creative, so I'm glad you liked the drums! Thanks for the review; I'll check out that song!

I love it. Really relaxing. The electric guitar is really awesome. I really should make a jazz song DX The combination of the piano, drums, guitar is just great. At 1:56 there was a jump in volume on the guitar. But I think I read that you are playing this on guitar?? That is really impressive dude. Nice improv man. It's really awesome. Doing jazz music isn't easy, especially improvising DX Nice work though man.

Lageira responds:

Hey thanks man, that jump on volume was actually a lick from Coltrane i am working on and it sounds kinda weird on guitar but on saxofone it makes more sense.

Still thanks for the feedback and ill make sure to check out your song as soon as possible.

Cheers

The piano sound is just so soft. The piano combined with the drums makes an awesome combination, the bells could be a little softer i think, but that doesn't really bother me too much, I just think it would fit in with the theme much better. Again, love the piano, the part a :45 is fantastic too. I just get this feeling when I listen to this song... Full of peace and wonder... it almost sounds like movie score, like the movie is ending and the hero talks about what he learned. I thought there could be a better transition going into the part at 1:28. And the staccato violins in the background at the point is a little uneasy sounding to me. I think if they were shorter, or maybe if they were a tuned percussion instrument, it could work a lot better. The song actually has nice structure, most of the transitions are pretty great and creates nice flow. The only times when you need to better the transitions is at 1:28 and 2:33... I think it's just the fact that you are dropping instruments and going down into softer part of the song. It's just something to work on is all. 3:17 is the best part of the song. When the new instrument whistling tuned percussion sounding synth instrument comes in... I don't know what it is, but it is really awesome. Just great job really. Great feel to the song.

Thankyou. That whistle part at 3:17 was already in the song but I made it louder for that part of the song. I agree the song needs better transitions.

I'm not really big into dubstep... but I thought I would give this a listen and a review anyways :D i think there could have been a better build to the song at 1:21 where the dubstep kicks in. And definitely try to get a fuller sound during the dubstep parts! And the song could definitely be fuller all around. The synth that starts at 2:12 could be playing throughout the song more often! It gives some more variety as well as giving the song a fuller sound for sure! The songs structure could use some work as well. It just seems a little messy to me. There is no real sense of melody, but I think you can get away with it since it's a dubstep song. But overall it's pretty good. Again dubstep isn't my thing. But I thought it was decent!

Thank you a lot for the feedback! I appreciate that you took your time to point out which parts of the song were good and which ones I need to work with more. When I am creating something on FL, I always have this tendency to get bored very quickly, which means I often rebuild the song several times before finishing. Also, I am still counting myself as a beginner, there is lots of stuff I simply can't figure out, like making decent dubstep drops and so on. . . Good advice about the structure, by the way. It's something that's easy to lost track on when rebuilding and experimenting, but important indeed. Definetly trying to keep these pointers in mind when I'm working on some new beats!

I don't get why people rate these songs so low -_- The song isn't my style, but it doesn't sound bad. At some parts it kinda reminds me of a Van Halen guitar riff :D Which is a HUGE compliment. I think this song is a little too slow tempo wise though. It has cool and fast guitar solos going through the song, but it sounds like its being held back by the speed of the song. Also, the song could use more instruments, it seems a little bit empty and needs to get that full sound. I think you should pump up the bass mix to make it a little better, and maybe add some violins, and definitely bring up the drum mix. It needs work for improvement, but I think it's pretty decent.

Always great to hear feed back. HA Van Halen, i love that old mother fucker. Yeah, i purposely created this song to be slow....lol but maybe i did it a lil too much. You know.....i honestly thought about adding other instruments. Maybe help the flow a lil bit more.

Interesting. I really like it... the background staccato violins kind of get annoying after a while until it gets to 1:02. Then it really changes up, and gives a very interesting contrast to the piece. The piece kind of reminds me of inception a little bit. Relating it to "Time" by hans zimmer. It sounds awesome though dude, no complains really. Great job!

Oh yes. Those damn staccato triplets...the bane of using a computer to emulate actual human players. Well maybe I'll go back and see if I can clean the intro up a bit. Thanks for the review! I'll definitely be checking out your song.

Interesting idea. I can picture a detective walking around in the night following someone to see where they are headed. The song has nice flow and works really well for a movie score. Also, since this was an ambient song, I thought that the bass drum in the beginning should have a bit of reverb on it to give a more wondering and mysterious effect. The piano has to be my favorite part. And the drums are perfect as well. Everything flows so neatly in here. Nothing really else. I like it a lot!

Thanks for putting some thought into your review!

I like your ideas in the song. I think you need to go for a fuller sound. I know I am no exception to this, but your software instruments could be much better, this could be wayyy better if they were more realistic. But I can use my imagination when listening, so it's no big deal. And I won't take points off for that. The low tom drum playing in the beginning and goes through out the entire song needs to be lower. I think that the style of this sound would do much better from it. You change the song up a lot which is great, but when I heard the first melody, I was expecting something like a boss battle of some sort. But then it goes into a happier phase, I think you should try to stay with one theme in your music. Because this is classified as orchestral, I was honestly expecting it to keep in the battle sequence mode. The biggest thing that this song could improve from is having a fuller sound, try adding some more instruments in the background like violins legato, staccato, trumpets in the background besides the main melody. And try adding some reverb on the instruments! They will sound more realistic! But nice work dude, it has potential.
