Nice intro, the bass is a nice touch to it as well. The intro melodies changing up a bit is really nice as well! But I think that it goes on for a little too long. Try adding some more instruments in there! If you don't want to change up the melody at all, try adding some more instruments to give it a fuller sound and to make somewhat of a build. And every once in a while you can go to a chorus. The song is very repetitive though and I can't really tell where a chorus is or anything since it all sounds the same.

The part at 1:10 sounds flat, but it's very interesting because it actually adds on to the tone of the piece. It compliments it very well for some reason. So that's good on your part that you are able to do that haha.

The only thing I can think of to make this better is to try changing up the melody a little bit, and adding some heavier drums. Add a snare drum and high hats and all of that. The bass drum loop gets a little old after a while. We want to hear something new! Something changing it up! I think the song has potential, but it has some ways to go. More melodies and more instruments!

Also, it'd be awesome if you could check out my original song "The Return" and give feedback!

Thanks for your opinion I may do a new version of this song to make it better when I got time.
I checkout your song "The Return" it was awesome :D

Pretty good song! I like the horns in the beginning. I'm not really a fan of 8-bit like this because it the sounds are so gritty and almost ear piercing DX But I won't judge this song because of it. I like the melody at 1:07 a lot. It was actually a pretty random mix... but it worked well! It was also very interesting to find voice in the song! I wasn't sure if you were going for this, but I think the song needs to be a little fuller if you know what I mean. It needs that full sound! The song could use a louder bass as well! I'm not sure if the one chirping bass is enough.

But overall it's a fairly decent song. Structurally it could use some work, and the mix could be a little better. But nice work!

Also, it'd be awesome if you could check out original song "Stranded" and give feedback!

This is the only song anyone's ever commented on. Thanks for the input!

Interesting choice of instruments and melodies you use in the song. I think that drums could be turned down slightly when they go really fast. The structure of the song is pretty neat though. The chorus (really fast and full sounding drum part XD) is good, but it could use a little more variety, it sounds a little repetitive. To fix this, try adding some more melodies that change in the background! Or keep adding instruments to build up on it more. The song is pretty good though :D I enjoyed it while i listened to it :D

Hey thanks for the feedback. You make some good points. There's a bit of distortion, though it's subtle. Turning the drums down a bit will probably help a lot.

I definitely want to try and work on the melody a bit more so it's got some variation. It's just I literally don't know how to play any insturments, nor do I have any music theory, so constructing a legitimate melody is nearly impossible for me. I'll maybe accidentally make a decent melody once in a blue moon, and that's where most of my songs come from.

Anyway, I'll definitely return the favor and check out your track. Thanks for reviewing.

Lol, is this original song by Demi Lovato.... lavado... lavoto... lafonda? something like that. Nice remix though! I don't know the song THAT well, but this sounds pretty legit. The transitions you use are really awesome though! I think the bass could be turned up a bit though. And I'm not quite hearing that full sound in songs that I love to hear so much. Try adding a few more instruments to create a fuller sound. Structurally, this song is really good in terms of when you drop the instruments. The sound quality is decent too. I did pretty good with the resources you were given :)

Thanks man, your songs are great too :)

Alright, here is my take on this song.

The first thing I must address is the structure of the song. It kind of is random. Your transitions are a little rough and could use a lot of work. But then I heard the part at 1:29 and it sounded like a fairly good transition. That was the kind of thing you should be doing! It sounds very random and out of place in your other transitions. I think it could improve a lot. A lot of the song is really random too. You have piano, ambient sounding instruments, and heavy distorted synths. I think these all could mix, but you take one instrument at a time in this song and that is when the rough transitions are. I think you could fix this definitely. There are parts in the song that sound good together, but not great.

Overall this song could use some work. Keep at it though!

Okay, this is really useful information. I'll try to work off of your points. I knew the transitions were rough, but I didn't really think about over arching structure. I suppose I have a lot to work on. Should keep me busy for a few weeks.

Very interesting song you have here... Obviously this song has no structure really... at least nothing I can really recognize... So I will just have to judge this by how much I enjoy it and where I can picture it going.

I can see this in a movie perhaps... At least something of this style. Maybe a horror film or a sci-fi film. An alien being discovered or a mans wife was just taken by one of the zombies as he watches is happen in slow-motion, this music would play. Then the zombie wife attacks him and he has no choice but to kill her. Or maybe this track would fit in with an intro to a movie. I can see it in a montage of a post apocalyptic walk through the desert as the people wandering it ponder life.

Just ideas where this could fit! it was kinda hard to rate though since it is such a track that fits a in a film best. But nice work!

Thank you for your in depth review and the glimpse into your mind of what might this song inspire inside your imagination! I do feel this might be in a slow-motion horrific scene or some other sort of depressing moment.

I'll check out your song "Stranded" and let you know what I think.

Pretty good. I think it could use some improvements, such as the structure of the song. It really is just the same melody over and over with little variation. I think the song could really improve if you added some more instruments to go along with the main riff. Like a piano or guitar. Adding some acoustic instruments would be pretty sweet :D I think it would be fine to do the same thing over and over like you did here if you added some more instruments as it builds up to the next part of the song. But hey, you can always improve. It's pretty good though.

Also, it'd be awesome if you could check out my track "Stranded" and give some feedback! Thanks!

Alright, time for another review!

To start off, I think the intro melody is nice. I like how it fades in slowly. But it goes on for a little too long. I think you could fix this if you add some more instruments. Like a piano melody playing over it. Add a kick drum earlier in it. Any instrument being added in there would be helpful, it would add more color and make it sound less repetitive.

The song gets way better when the high pitched piano comes in. But the build up to that one point took a little too long. The time could have been cut in half for that. It just took a lot of slow transitions and long waiting to get to it. Some transitions like a drum fill or a guitar cue would be great in this song.

This song has a nice a baseline! But it is too quiet. Try lifting that up a bit. The rest of the mix in the song is pretty good. maybe tone down the main melody a bit. It sounds a bit too loud and overpowering, leaving little room for the little instruments in the background to play and add more color and variety.

The song sounds pretty good mixing wise, but it never really has that full sound. The fullest is around 3:33 and it could go a little more. Adding more instruments and melodies would help this a ton

But overall, nice work, could use some more variety. And the mix is good. Just some slight adjustments to it and it would be golden. Some better transitions and instruments and this will sound much better! But nice work!

Thanks again for reviewing, like I said in the description this is just something I found on my hard drive I completely forgot I even did it. I think I did review your piece "Stranded", but some message came up saying it had to be checked. I'll try posting again just in case, so don't be surprised if there's two.

I like it! The economic/jungle feel is great! One of the only things holding this song back is the instruments sound quality. The violins could definitely sound more realistic. They just sound too midi if you know what I mean. Also with the voices that come in later. Try adding some reverb affect or even some echo to make them sound a little more reaslistic! And overall make your song sound much better.
This doesn't really bother me, but I think people might get annoyed by this. But for the first part of the song, you repeat that melody all the way up to 0:44 seconds in the song. Again not a big deal to me, but people might be a little annoying.
In terms of mixing your sounds, I think you did a pretty good job. It sounds very full at times when it should. And when its not, it never sounds dry. And I'm not sure if it's just my headphones, but to me, the bass is really difficult to hear. Maybe if you could turn that up it would be nice.
The more I listen to this sound, the more instruments I notice in the background that add to the song. It's good that you use as many instruments as possible because it really adds to your final mix and keeps people more interested as a result. At least that is my theory on it :P

So overall, great song. Not so great instrument sound quality, but that really isn't your fault, but to fix it, some effects might help it. Great mixing, and I forgot to mention this, but I think I heard some panning which is great. Not many people including myself don't use that.

Also if you could check out my original song "Stranded" and give me feedback, that'd be great!

Hey Stunkel,

First, thanks for listening! :D Second, thanks for giving me some great feedback. I don't like to make excuses but unfortunately, I have no other choice in this case. The violins I use are, as you say, not of the 'highest quality', but that's all I can afford at this moment (being a student sucks...ya know? lol) Hopefully in the future I will be able to get EWQL or something of that nature.

As for the voices, I think I will go and add some instant reverb to those, thanks for picking up on that! That and a few other changes will make a difference in the long run. I appreciate it! :)

I'm going to head over to your song now and give it a listen!

Thanks again,
Neon-Bard

The panning in the beginning was good. I'm saying that because a lot of people including myself don't use it that often DX. The drums coming in is a nice touch. The intro is a little repetitive though. You do add plenty of instruments one after another to create a build. It especially gets catchier at 1:05 when the bass drum kicks in. Having that pulse bass drum is really good, and it can be good in a lot of songs. You executed it very well though. The drums are nice because they change up plenty. And I noticed you only used one chord as well as it says in your description. I think it is pretty difficult to do that for the most part, but for trying to do so, I say you did pretty well. The bass in the song is really good actually though, I would say that is the best feature for sure, unfortunately it doesn't come in till later in the song. Your mixing is really well done though. Everything sounds together and the instruments sound pretty good for the emotion you are going for. At least I assume you were going for the mood I am hearing.

Overall, good work though. Well executed for a one chord song. It's still repetitive, but it sounds good for the most part. Nice work!

Also, if you could check out my track "Stranded" and give feedback on it. That'd be great!

Hi stunkel,

Thanks for your review, I like hearing what other people think of my work, it always manages to surprise me somehow. Anyway I pretty much agree with most of what you said. But I never post the finished products on here as I use them in live sets and stuff,` so you'll never get to hear the improvements :(

I will return the favour and review your song as I'm sure you will undoubtably be aware of this already

Cheers
