Really nice sounding loop! I think you should make it into a full song though! And it sounds a bit too repetitive as it is, try adding at least a minute of the loop or else it just gets annoying after while :/ But nice work!

vai90 responds:

Yeah, true. I might make a full song out of it. Not sure yet, but I should definitely at least try to expand the loop. Thx for the review!

Nice jazzy intro. Very friendly sounding as well. I think the piano sound effect could be a little better... but for the song, the sound that it makes it actually pretty good! It works and flows well with the song. I love the harmonica instrument that starts at around 0:32. The song sound very video gamey though. I like it a lot :D The piano solo that comes in later is also very nice. I also noticed you did some panning. I was listening to the song with one headphone and I was going to make a comment on how some things were too quiet, but it's very good. The only thing I can really say you can improve upon is more chords in the background. It does get a little repetitive. This doesn't bother me personally, but it could use some more parts with different chord progressions just to change it up a bit. But nice work!

Also, it'd be awesome if you could check out my original song "The Return" and give feedback!

Ragezero responds:

Thanks for the feedback :) This was quite the quick project, but it worked out quite well! About being repetitive, I know it is. It wasn't planned to go on as long as it did, but I liked it enough to give it a second go after the first piano part and all :)

As for 'The Return', I think I already gave some feedback =) Tis a good track

I love the intro. The chord progression you use is just fantastic. I thought the song would go in a completely different direction, but what you did was pretty unique as well! The best part was definitely the piano in the background. It was very clean and it all just sounded so peaceful. I just wish that the song went to a little bit more of an intense level if you know what I mean. It could have gone to be so much bigger! It could have had an epic drum beat and a huge chorus with it! But the way that it is, I can see it going along to montage video or a time-lapse video. It could go in a lot of great places. That's the beauty of ambient music. It really does have so many more directions to go than other music. But really good job. It was a little repetitive and I was hoping for it to go a little bigger, but the song really worked well for what it is. So nice work!

Sure I will, thanks for your feedback.^^
I'm glad that you still liked it.
The next piece I'm creating at the moment
is just going to be fine as well.

I love the violins plucking in the beginning. I'm not sure how to spell it... so i'm just gonna say plucking and hope you know what I mean. I think this song could be a little more powerful. The song was very lively and had awesome moments and such, but it never felt like it was pushing me to my emotional extent. The song is very very fitting for a video game though. It just need a little bit more and it would be awesome! It was nice though, it was very cartoony and fun to listen to. Themed for a cartoon show with a halloween special or something. It got a little repetitive at some points but it was still nice and didn't bother me that much! Nice work though and nice use of instruments.

Interesting song. I love the glockenspiel/music box sounding instrument. Really awesome. Sounds like an awesome cartoon movie score of some sorts. It is really really good though. I wish it was a little bit longer though! The flute melody that start at 0:40 can be very loud at some points and gets a little uncomfortable. But everything sounds so spooky, but very happy at the same time. This belongs in a Tim Burton movie for sure though. Something like "Nightmare before Christmas" really nice job though!

Very happy sounding! I wasn't expecting it by the first melody that started it all out. I thought that the transition going into 0:22 could be a little better, but it worked for what it is. It's soooo happy though which i love. You have some nice melodies in there too. The structure is pretty good. I think that transitions and choice of places where you drop out could be a little better. I love when the song drops the drums and goes into the flute solo part at 1:34. SOUNDS AWESOME! But you have some awesome melodies and awesome ideas, really nice job

Alright well to start off I think that the piano sounded very realistic, but it might sound better if the notes were stretched longer in the piano riff. For some reason this bothered me. But it actually proved to worked better with the end of the song. One thing I think the song could improve on is a cool intro. I bet if you did a softer, higher pitched and slowed down version of the same riff you started with, it would give a nice effect and set a cool atmosphere for the rest of the song. The violins sound really nice and I didn't even notice they came in until i listened closer. Not sure if that is good or bad, but it was impressive that it slipped by XD. The song sounded flat a few times, just because a few notes mixed together sounded a little nasty, but those were small and rare. But the song was pretty good. Nice work!

Wow thanks!

I think I will experiment with a unique intro and update it in the near future and will check out your stuff now. :)

Thanks for the review!

sweet intro! I think the song could do without the singing though. But it was nice!

Alright here is my review of the song!

The intro with the rain is interesting. I really like the idea of using sound effects in music. Which I have yet to do. However, I know you might be limited by your resources to have good sound effects, but the rain just sounds like static after a while. But I just used my imagination that it was rain and it got me by the song. The guitar is great, just a really nice melody, and it really goes nice with the rain noise in the background. The combination of all of the instruments you used with the rain really creates an awesome atmosphere that I don't really don't here that often in song.

This may be my opinion only, but I personally was not a fan of the double time in the drums at 1:17. It was all just a little too sudden for me. I think it sort of just took away from the atmosphere of the song. But once I got past the transition, it sounded fine. And then going back to the normal drumbeat on the high hat was a really nice touch! A really soothing idea. I think if you were able to get into that double time with a better transition, it would be much better.

The song actually sounds like it could be a score for a sad part in a movie or TV show. Like a montage of a guy getting over his girlfriend or something sad like that. It fits that genre very well in my opinion.

The sound quality is really good! Outstanding really. For the atmosphere of the song, it worked really really well. Everything is properly mixed and it all sounds really clean. You seemed to add the right amount of effects on all of the instruments and you really took your time to make sure all of the instruments were evened out.

Overall, it was a really good song. The song does get a bit repetitive at times, but you change enough of the background, and to be honest, the fact that it is a little repetitive doesn't really bother me at all. The songs structure is really clever and it holds itself up very well. I think you got yourself a good piece here. Especially just for writing it in an hour. I think you should take a little bit more time on songs like this, you could really make it into something awesome

LimeDisciple responds:

Christ this is a long interview, probably why it took me a year and a half to reply. Thanks dude, the guitar was recorded in one take on some chords I was messing with a couple years back. The whole song took on average 45 minutes from start to finish. Yeah the drums needed to be calmed down at those parts, I was definitely not that good at atmosphere/mixing at the time.
For some reason I always write soundtrack shit, no idea why. The repetitiveness of my songs is something I've just gotten from all the fucking prog stuff I've listened to man.

I'm going to check out your song and write you a review, thanks for all the time and effort dude. From one songwriter to another, you are the man.
